Jeep Tour K2 Trek Snow Capped High Mountains Valley Travel
|
   Deosai Deosai
  is a National Park
located in the Northern Areas of Pakistan.
It is one of the highest plateaus in the world with height over 4,000 metres above the
sea level, covering an area of about 3,000 square kilo
meters. It is snow-bound from November to May. In the summer months when the
snow clears up KJTI organises jeep treks from June to September. There is a
famous bridge on the river call Bara Pani meaning big river. It is accessible
from Skardu  on one side and Astore Valley
in the west. Deosai is well known for its spring season when it is covered by
a carpet of millions of flowers and a wide variety of butterflies. The
jeep track from Astore Valley is comparatively easy but the
dust track route to Skardu is hair-raising. There is a lake named Shausar
Lake meaning ‘white lake’ in local language. The lake is at a height of
4,140 m. Its approximate length is 2.3 km (1.4 miles) and
width 1.8 km (1.2 miles) with more than 40 m depth. Deosai
Plains make up one of the last frontiers of natural habitat for the Himalayan Brown Bear, a creature that once
roamed the mountains freely. The The
Deosai Plains are also home to the Himalayan
Ibex, Red Fox, Golden Marmot, Wolf,
  the Ladakh Urial,
  the Snow Leopard,
and over 124 resident and migratory birds. Birds in the park include the Golden Eagle,
  Lammergeier,
  Griffon Vulture,
  Laggar Falcon,
  Peregrine Falcon, Kestrel,
  Indian
  Sparrowhawk and Snowcock. In
July and August, KJTI jeep treks organises one day camp at Bara Pani which is
an experience of a life time at an height of 4000 meters, higher than any
mountain in Europe. Adventure Travel in North |
